Vendor

ˈven.dər / Vendor

Definition

A vendor is a supply chain entity that sells services and goods to consumers or businesses.

They usually work as a supplier. However, they can also be both the supplier and the manufacturer of their products.

For example, footwear retailers may have Nike and Adidas as their vendor, both as a supplier and a manufacturer. Then, these retailers may be a vendor of branded shoes for a Facebook online seller.

In some cases, a vendor can sell directly to consumers. Nike and Adidas stores are examples of a vendor that goes straight to the consumers.
