A service provider is an external party—usually an organization or an individual—that provides services to another organization or individual in exchange for compensation.

Typically, a service agreement binds both parties to document the service provisions and other terms of their partnership.

In most cases, it delivers specialized or technical services to its client. The term covers agencies and outsourcing companies that offer various services such as consulting, communications, and processing to another organization.
