Quality Control

ˈkwɑː.lə.ti kənˈtroul / Quality Control (QC)

Definition

Quality control (QC) focuses on meeting standards for quality within an organization.

Through this process, a business aims to track the quality of a product or a service.

The employees involved follow procedures to ensure that they maintain or improve the quality against the given benchmarks. Should they encounter any error, its elimination or reduction is also part of the process.

Compared to quality assurance (QA), QC is focused more on the inspection of outputs, whether products or services, instead of the process on how a deliverable was created. It describes the actual fulfillment of the standards of quality.
